Hello Everyone!  I am Ravinder Kumar, founder of Eiglewings Educational Institute; English Speaking Trainer and Motivational speaker since 2006. In my teaching career one of the most frequent questions; students ask me is: “ How to give self introduction? “. This question comes to me in different ways like: “How do you introduce yourself ?” “How can I introduce myself in English?”  “How can I introduce myself in Interview?” “what is personal introduction?” “What is good introduction?” “What is self introduction speech?” Here is the answer of all your questions: 

What is self-Introduction? 

Self-introduction is figure of speech which projects your personality before others. There are two types of self-Introductions: 

    • Formal self-Introduction    

• Informal self-Introduction.

Formal self-Introduction: ( What is formal self introduction ?)

Formal self-Introduction is the one which you use when you are appearing in an interview. In the formal self-Introduction there are some points you must mention.

    • Greeting ( How to Greet ? ) 

        ◦ Greet with smile on your face. You can use any of the following styles of greeting.
                ▪ Good Morning / Good afternoon / Good evening Sir / Madam         

  ▪ Hello Sir / Madam            

▪ Hello everyone ( when more then one person are there )  You can add an opening line after your greeting: 
          • Hello Sir / Madam! Thank you for giving me opportunity to introduce myself well ..             

  •  Good Morning Sir / Madam ! I is my pleasure to introduce myself well….               

• Hello Everyone! First of all I would like to thanks you for giving me the opportunity to  introduce myself well …..

    • Your Name ( How to tell your name ? )

        ◦ After greeting mention your Name. For telling your name you can use any of the following styles :          

  ▪ My name is …….. 

▪ I am …… 

▪ My self …….

• Your place of living or birth ( How to tell about your palace of living or birth ?)

        ◦ Just after your name you must mention “ Your place of living or birth” you can use any of the following styles.
            ▪ My name is …………born and brought up in ……………         

  ▪ I am …………..from ………………….         

  ▪ My name is ………………I am living at ………..     

  ▪ My name is ………………I am putting up at ……..

    • Your last highest qualification ( How to tell about your qualifications ? )  

 Now it’s time to tell about your qualifications. You can use anyone of the following styles.

▪ I am graduate in  ……….(mention the subject) from ……………( name of the university)            

▪ I have completed …………….( name of degree or diploma) from ……………..                                      ( name of institute) in …………(year of completion)
        ◦ To mention more then one qualifications or diploma / certificate you can use following style:
         

▪ Apart from this/ these I have also done …………..( name of diploma / certificate )                                  from ……………( name of institute )

    • Your skills ( How to tell your skills ? )

        ◦ Now mention your key skills. Keep it in mind that you must mention only those skills which are relevant to the job. For example if your are appearing for driver’s job you must mention about your driving skills not the teaching skills. To tell about your skills you can use any of the following styles.
            ▪ I am well familiar with the use of ………….( names of the instruments)             ▪ I have good understanding of ………………( names of the subjects) 
   ◦ To add some more you can you following sentence.
            ▪ I also have knowledge of ……………..( names of subject or Instrument )

    • Your work experiences ( How to tell your experience ? ) 

        ◦ To mention your work experiences you can use  the following style. Keep in mind that you mention relevant work experiences only and not more then two.      ▪ As far as my work experience is concerned I have worked with ………..                                                 (name of theorganization) from ……..till ………..( mention the time period)
◦ To add one more work experience you can use following sentence.
            ▪ I have also worked with ……………( name of the organization ) from …….till                                     ………………….( mention the time period) 
        ◦ To mention about your current working status you can use any of the following style.
          ▪ I am working with ………..( name of the organization ) since…………( starting time)          

  ▪ currently  I am working with…………..( name of the organization) 
        ◦ If you don’t have any work experience then you can use following style.
         

  ▪ As far as my work experience is concerned so far I have not worked worked with any  organization but I believe I can prove if opportunity is given.          

  ▪ As I am a fresher this organization would be the first for me to prove my skills and knowledge.           

▪ I am a fresher but seeking an opportunity to prove myself.

    • Your project or goal ( How to tell about your aims ? ) 

        ◦ Mention your long time goal or short time goals. Keep in mind that your projects or goals should be related to job otherwise don’t mention. You can use following sentence to tell about your goals.
            ▪ I am perusing ……………( the course you are doing)            

▪ I am working on ………….( the project you are working on )

    • Your family background ( How to tell about your family background?) 

        ◦ Mention about your family. You can use following sentence to explain about your family. 
 ▪ I have ……….(numbers of members in your family) in my family. ……………….(mention about parents and siblings in short in case your are married you can mention about your husband and children) and I. (Add details of your parents, siblings or husband’s occupation also) 
                • Example:  I have four members is my family. My father, my mother, my younger sister and I. My father is teacher in govt. school, my mother is housewife and my  younger sister is studying in class 10th.

    • Your Interests ( How to tell your interests?) 

        ◦ To tell about your interests you can use any of the following sentences. 
            ▪ I take interest in ………………….( mention your two or three interests)             ▪ I pass my free time ………………..( mention your two or three interests)          

  ▪ In my free time I ……………           

▪ …………………………..are my hobbies.

    • Closing line ( How to close your introduction ?)

        ◦ Closing line is most important part of the introduction be careful in it. Use any of the following sentence. 
▪ That is all about myself thank you.

 ▪ That is what I am thank you.

Informal self-Introduction

In the informal self introduction you just greet and tell your name. You can use any of the following  sentences. This kind of introduction we use in our daily casual gatherings like party, school, collage or class. 
    • Hi my name is …………….    • Hello I am ……………    • Good morning  I am ………..    • Hello Everyone this is …………….
